RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the normal way in which adults and children over the age of seven become full, active, participating members of the Catholic Church. An important part of preparation for this active participation is developing the desire and ability to reach out to others, inviting them to "come and see" (John 1:39) where the Lord is to be found, which is in the community of his disciples. The most important thing to keep in mind about the RCIA is this: is it not merely a new way to prepare adults and children over seven for baptism; baptism is only one of the final steps. The goal of the process is full communion, which means "full, conscience and active participation" in the Eucharist and in the whole life of the Catholic faith community.
