Confirmation Year 1
Confirmation Session
Regular attendance at all Confirmation sessions is expected in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Sessions run from 2:15 PM – 5:00 PM and include class time followed by the 4:00 PM Sunday Youth Mass, which is required as part of the program.
These gatherings are designed to help teens grow in faith, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and build community. Because of their importance, participants may not have more than three (3) excused absences during the year. We encourage all families to attend Mass with us.
Youth Nights
An important part of the Confirmation journey is living the Catholic faith in a Christ-centered community. Youth Nights help teens build friendships, grow in discipleship, and experience Church beyond the classroom. These may include social, service, worship, and outreach opportunities where teens can encounter Christ and live out their faith.
All Confirmation candidates are required to attend at least two (2) Youth Nights during the year as part of their formation.
Service Hours & Reflection
Christian service is an important part of living our faith. As part of Confirmation preparation, teens are encouraged to put their faith into action by serving others with compassion and love.
Year 1 candidates must complete ten (10) hours of service and a reflection, which may be done through parish, school, or community activities. Service must be verified by a supervisor on the Service Hours Form; personal chores do not qualify.
Retreat
Retreats are a required and important part of Confirmation preparation, helping teens step away from daily life to grow closer to Jesus Christ. Through talks, small groups, activities, and the sacraments (Mass and Confession), the retreat offers a meaningful encounter with faith.
All Confirmation Year 1 candidates must attend our one-day retreat.
Saint Report
At the Confirmation Mass, each candidate is confirmed by the Bishop and presented with a Saint name they have chosen as a spiritual role model for their faith journey.
To help prepare, Year 1 candidates will complete a short Saint report exploring the life and example of their chosen Saint (the same Saint as Baptism or a new one). This helps them reflect on how the Saint’s life can inspire their own discipleship.

Confirmation Year 2

Letter to the Bishop
Writing a letter to the Bishop is a meaningful part of the Confirmation journey, inviting each candidate to reflect on their faith and share their desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Year 2 Confirmands are asked to write about who Jesus is to them, how their relationship with Him has grown, and why they wish to be confirmed in the Catholic Church. The Bishop reads each letter with care and may even share insights from them during the Confirmation Mass. Guidelines will be provided during the year.
