The Sacrament of Matrimony is one of the Sacraments of mission. The other is Holy Orders. Through these two sacraments men and women are saved for the Kingdom and witness is given toward the plan of God the Father, given us from the beginning. Made in the image and likeness of God, we are called to communion, to live in peace with each other. Following the model of the Blessed Trinity we are called to an unselfish love and one built on absolute fidelity. In the marriage vows we bind ourselves to love the other unconditionally: “in good times and bad, in sickness and in health”. It is a faithfulness that is not unlike the love of Jesus for the Church, as St Paul says. So Marriage is a witness of fidelity, a covenant of love and the way by which new souls are brought into the world through God and you creating a new life.
The preparation for marriage involves meeting a number of times with a deacon or priest from our parish. In time, a communication workshop is taken. Documents are gathered and then a meeting with the rehearsal person and the planning of the wedding day. Please remember that your plans at the church have to begin 6 months before your wedding date. We look forward to meeting with you and beginning this chapter of your life with you. It all starts with a phone call to our office!
